This two-kilometer stretch of riverbank with its 800 cherry trees, was chosen as one of Japan’s 100 most beautiful cherry blossom sites, and is also one of the best in the Chugoku Region. The city employs special gardeners to take care of trees that are up to 80 years old and also to plant new ones. The city is trying to revitalize the area through the trees.
