The shrine has a big vermillion colored Shinto gate and Shinden-zukuri style structures which induce a graceful atmosphere, so the island has been gaining popularity among overseas tourists. The great gate which stands in the sea is breathtaking. When the tide is low, you can walk up to the gate to see it closely. Each season has different charms; cherry blossoms in spring, colored leaves in autumn and occasional snowfall in winter. The shrine looks different, depending on the season you visit.
