It is recorded that the shrine was founded in 1186. The tree known as Yoko-zakura located near the first gate looks like a heart when seen from a specific angle.
At daytime the tree is beautiful with a background of the extensive Mt.Ohira. At night the illuminated tree induces a dream-like atmosphere.
