Hofu Tenmangu is one of the three greatest shrine’s of the diety of education Sugawara no Michizane. This shrine also holds the Tanabata Festival every year.
The corridor features 1,000 milk carton lantern arranged in the form of the Milky Way. Each lantern represents a wish from a visitor. There is also the very popular Hikari No Yuniwa, wherein the Shrine’s grounds are dreamily illuminated with
Kasadama umbrella art, vinyl umbrellas that are connected and illuminated,scattering light over the tower gate.
