Dangyokei is a gorge which has been formed by the erosion of the Nigori River, a branch of the Gonokawa River. Scenic beauties of various types, such as extraordinary-shaped rocks and abysses, continue for four kilometers. Formerly the area was called Uokiri. Rizen, a monk of the Josenji Buddhist Temple, renamed the area Dangyokei. The promenade which extends along the gorge has 24 highlights. Please visit to enjoy the natural beauty of each season: fresh young leaves in spring, refreshing greenery in summer and colored leaves in autumn
