It was one of the silver mines which were directly operated by the Tokugawa shogunate government during the Edo era (1603-1868) along with Oomori Silver Mines which is registered as a World Heritage site. 200 original mines, 24 refineries and a slag dumping space as large as 3000㎡ are well preserved. In autumn, it is highly recommended to visit Obayashi Shinto Shrine which boasts of colored leaves and Jinguji Buddhist Temple. Both are located near the silver mine ruins.
