Built in 1620, the garden has been carefully maintained and skillfully modified by generations of feudal lords until the present shape was completed.
In the long course of history, it was damaged badly by fires during the Edo era and by the atomic bomb. However, it was restored every time to the original shape and the garden marked its 400 year anniversary in 2020. Every season has something to enjoy; cherry blossoms in spring, fresh greenery in summer, colored foliage in autumn, and apricots and camellias in winter. Visitors can indulge in seasonal beauty all year around.
